Commissioner Patiala Division and DC Patiala Visit Deceased Farmers Families

Patiala | Punjab Government Stood firmly with the families of deceased farmers who lost their lives during Farmers’ agitation at Singhu Border, Delhi, said Commissioner Patiala Division, Mr. Chander Gaind accompanied by DC Kumar Amit while visiting families of these farmers, today.

MP Patiala Mrs Preneet Kaur while sharing grief of the aggrieved families through video calling termed these untimely demise extremely painful. She assured the family of the deceased farmers of Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia grant, each, in this hour of sorrow.

Divisional Commissioner who visited the eldest member, mother Bachan Kaur of deceased farmer Pal Singh (58) of village Sahauli near Bhadson, said that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh led state government is committed to help the families of the deceased farmers who lost their lives during the ongoing struggle. Sharing the grief of the family, Mr. Gaind assured them of every possible support.

At village Sapherra, that has lost two farmers, one in young age and other in middle age, during a road accident, when these farmers were on the way back to their home from Singhu Border, Mr. Chander Gaind said that he has directed the District administration to pursue the cases of the deceased and injured farmers with state government for monetary help of the victims’ families. He also assured the families of the deceased farmers Gurpreet Singh (22), Labh Singh (68) and injured farmers of every possible help.

Later on, interacting with the media, he said that Patiala District has lost four farmers during the ongoing farmers agitation since November 23. One from Shutrana, Two from Spherra (Sanaur) and one from Bhadson (Nabha). Apart from that, six farmers got injured during the road accident that happened near Trawari. Out of these, four persons are undergoing treatment in hospital while two others discharged to home.

Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Kumar Amit added that the district administration has recommended an aid of Rs Five Lakh each for the deceased farmers besides Rs 50,000 for injured persons. SDM Nabha Mr. Kala Ram Kansal and SDM Patiala, Mr Charanjit Singh were also present there.
